Itinerary

IT’S THE 75TH ANNUAL TOOWOOMBA CARNIVAL OF FLOWERS!
WITNESS THE BEST OF THE FESTIVITIES, ALONG WITH MANY OTHER FABULOUS ATTRACTIONS ON KTG TOURS 6 DAY TOUR

 

Day 1 – Thursday 19th September 2024

We depart Sydney this morning and journey north, travelling along The Buckets Way through the Barrington Tops where we pause for lunch. Then, through Walcha, Uralla, Armidale and Guyra before arriving in Glen Innes where we spend our first night.

Day 2 – Friday 20th September 2024

This morning we travel to the delightful town of Tenterfield, one of the country’s most significant historical areas and known as the ‘Birthplace of our Nation’. See a number of preserved landmark buildings including the Tenterfield School of Arts where Sir Henry Parkes made his famous Federation Speech in 1889. See the giant Cork Tree, believed to be the largest in Australia and the Tenterfield Saddler which has been in operation since 1870 and was made famous by the Peter Allen song of the same name. Crossing the border into Queensland, we continue north stopping for lunch at historic Rudd’s Pub in Nobby, the home of Dad and Dave. This afternoon we arrive at our accommodation in Toowoomba where we are based for the next 3 nights.

Day 3 – Saturday 21st September 2024

Celebrating its 75th year, the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers has been growing bigger, brighter and more colourful each year. It is the longest running floral event of its kind in Australia as the premiere celebration of flowers, food, wine, culture, entertainment and all things spring! We kick off the festivities with the Grand Central Floral Parade, a highlight in the festival calendar. See exceptional flowery floats, colourful characters, incredible inflatables and more from our group’s special reserved seats. Next, we visit the world class Cobb+Co Museum where we learn about the National Carriage Collection and enjoy some lunch. This afternoon we are joined by a local guide who will introduce us to some of this years’ competition winning private gardens.

 

Day 4 – Sunday 22nd September 2024

This morning we beat the crowds and head north of Toowoomba to visit the delightful Spring Bluff Railway Station. The heritage listed site is located on the main railway line between Ipswich and Toowoomba and is home to some beautiful landscaped gardens. After lunch, we visit some Exhibition Gardens, where specially selected homeowners open up their private yards for the public to enjoy. On our way back to Toowoomba we stop to admire the glorious gardens at Laurel Bank Park.

 

Day 5 – Monday 23rd September 2024

Before departing Toowoomba, we visit the Japanese Gardens, which was opened 1989. The site is jointly owned by the University of Southern Queensland and Toowoomba Regional Council and spans over 3 hectares. We bid farewell to the garden city then stop for lunch at the incredible Abbey of the Roses in Warwick. This stunning heritage-listed Country House Manor was built in 1891. Crossing back over the border to New South Wales, we continue back along the New England Highway to Glen Innes.

Day 6 – Tuesday 24th September 2024

Our journey home today takes us through Tamworth, with a lunch stop at Hunter Belle Cheese in Muswellbrook and an afternoon stop around Wyong before arriving back in Sydney around 6:30pm depending on traffic.
