Spectacular Sapphire Coast

Day 1 – Wednesday 2nd November 2022

This morning we depart Sydney and travel south via Kiama to the coastal holiday town of Ulladulla for lunch. This afternoon our journey continues as we travel through the beautiful coastal towns of Narooma, Bermagui and Merimbula to the picturesque town of Eden, our based for the next 3 nights.

Day 2 – Thursday 3rd November 2022

This morning we are joined by a local guide who will take us on an interesting tour of Eden and surrounds. Be entertained throughout the tour with many anecdotes and historical tales of Twofold Bay. See heritage sites and learn some of the area’s history, both factual, strange and often times even amusing. We make a brief stop at scenic Quarantine Bay to learn the eerie historic that gave the bay its name and visit the historical Boydtown to see the remains of the failed empire of the flamboyant Benjamin Boyd. Here we enjoy a delicious morning tea at the historic Seahorse Inn then travel further south to Red Head where we inspect another failure of Benjamin Boyd, his “lighthouse” built in 1843. On return to Eden, we are welcomed aboard our Cat Balou catamaran for a scenic cruise around Twofold Bay. Sit back, relax and enjoy the glorious surroundings and a spot of lunch. This afternoon we explore the Killer Whale Museum which has been in operation for over 80 years. Our personal guide will enlighten us on the areas intriguing whaling history and introduce us to the full skeleton of the legendary Killer Whale know as ‘Tom’. Then we return to our motel to freshen up before heading back to the impressive Seahorse Inn for dinner.

Day 3 – Friday 4th November 2022

Today we travel through glorious countryside to the Bega Cheese Heritage Centre. The centre offers the chance to try their world famous cheese and learn about the history of dairying and Bega Cheese in the Bega Valley. Next, we travel to Tilba Tilba to explore the simply stunning Foxglove Spires Gardens, ravishing in autumn colour. Enjoy lunch in the gardens surrounded by glorious blooms then continue on to the heritage listed town of Central Tilba. Explore the perfectly restored period village with quaint shops like the ABC Cheese Factory, Tilba Woodturning Gallery, Tilba Leather, Gulaga Gallery & Bookstore, Mockingbird Lane Antiques, Tilba Sweet Spot and Mrs Jamieson’s Tilba Fudge to name a few. This afternoon we stop at Wheeler’s Oyster Farm for a tour of the state-of-the-art factory and tasting, then back to Eden.

Day 4 – Saturday 5th November 2022

Bags packed and on board the coach, we bid farewell to Eden and travel north to Narooma for morning tea. We stop for lunch at a coastal location along the way before visiting Historic Jindyandy Mill in Pyree which was built by convicts in 1830 and the surround buildings hold an exciting array of gifts, craft, art, antiques, food and more. This afternoon we pause at Sublime Point Lookout for an afternoon snack before returning home around 6:30pm, depending on traffic.
