Day 1   Welcome to Alice Springs

(Meals: D)

Your tour starts at Sydney Airport where you meet your Tour Hostess who will accompany you on your 6 day adventure into Central Australia. Our Qantas flight departs Sydney at 9:25am, arriving in Alice Springs at 12:05pm local time.* On arrival at Alice Springs Airport, we are met by our Driver Guide who will transfer us to our hotel, stopping along the way at Anzac Hill Lookout to admire spectacular views across the town of Alice. Tonight, we venture out for a fun filled evening of entertainment and outback cuisine in a picture perfect setting in the remote and isolated East MacDonnell Ranges. Relax around a cosy campfire in the style of an old time cattle camp, tuck into a mouth-watering meal and enjoy a cold beer or wine from the Aussie Bush bar. Get to know the local people who will share with you the epic story of their life and survival in this harsh land. Be entertained underneath a chandelier of stars as an authentic bush balladeer delights and captivates us with timeless Australian songs.

Day 2   West MacDonnell Ranges

(Meals: BLD)

The West MacDonnell Ranges is the ideal place to experience the geology, landforms and variety of native flora and fauna. You’ll take a walk to Simpsons Gap and dramatic Angkerle (Standley Chasm). Created over millions of years, the deep red sandstone formation contrasts with the carpet of lush, green ferns and gum trees on the valley floor. There will be time to cool off with a swim at Ellery Creek Big Hole and to explore the Ochre Pits and learn about ochre’s importance, having been used for thousands of years by Aboriginal people for medicinal and magical purposes. This evening enjoy dinner at the hotel.

Day 3   Alice Springs – Kings Canyon

(Meals: BD)

Today we visit the School of the Air, an educational service for children living in remote areas. Then visit the Royal Flying Doctor Service, which provides a ‘mantle of safety’ to the people of the outback before making our way to Kings Canyon. Tonight enjoy dinner at the resort.

Hotel: Kings Canyon Resort, Kings Canyon

Day 4   Kings Canyon – Uluru

(Meals: BD)

This mornings activity is optional, for those with a good level of fitness. Make the climb to the rim of the Canyon, where you will be rewarded with marvellous views of Watarrka National Park. For those looking for a more leisurely stroll we explore the boulder-strewn creek bed – an easy shady walk following the trail between the two sheer walls of the canyon. We travel to Kings Creek where we pause to grab some lunch before making our way on to Uluru. Pass through Curtin Springs and view Atila (Mt. Conner). You’ll be amazed at the site of Atila, often mistaken for Uluṟu. Atila is a very distinctive, flat-topped mountain that rises 300 metres above the desert sand. Tonight we head into the Uluru – Kata Tjuta National Park. The scenery along the way will amaze you and with luck, you may even see some of the local wildlife such as dromedary camels and kangaroos. View sunset and the amazing changing colours of Uluru while enjoying nibbles and sparkling wine. We continue on to our exclusive venue to enjoy a delicious gourmet barbecue dinner followed by some spectacular stargazing (weather permitting).

Hotel: Desert Gardens Hotel, Ayers Rock

Day 5   Uluru – Kata Tjuta

(Meals: BD)

This morning our driver guide will share with us fascinating stories of the geology, history and culture of Uluru, which is deeply sacred to the local Anangu people. Rise early to watch the first rays of the sun set the Red Centre and Uluru alight. After sunrise join your Guide for a drive around the base of Uluru. Then travel by coach to the Mutitjulu Walk where you will be escorted to the Mutitjulu Waterhole. Visit the Uluru – Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre to see locally-made arts and crafts. We pause at the Kata-Tjuta Dunes Viewing Area to soak up the panoramic views of Kata Tjuta with Uluru on the horizon. It’s an easy stroll to the lookout for a breathtaking view of the grassy hills and valleys that surround Kata Tjuta’s domes. This afternoon we explore Walpa Gorge which is described as ‘like entering an ancient temple crafted by nature’. Walpa means windy, so named for the refreshing winds that pass through the gorge and is guarded from the hot desert sun. The rocky track gently rises to a small track, passing rare plants and ending at a grove of spearwood trees. Tonight, enjoy chilled Australian wines and canapés as we witness the wonder of a Kata Tjuta sunset. Each minute brings something new as the domes continue to change colour with the setting sun. We then return to our hotel for our last dinner together.

Hotel: Desert Gardens Hotel, Ayers Rock

Day 6   Farewell Ayers Rock

(Meals: B)

This morning there is some free time to enjoy some optional extra activities like the Field of Lights Sunrise Tour, a scenic helicopter flight for a birds eye view of the spectacular landscape, a camel ride with Uluru forming an incredible backdrop, a thrilling Harley ride around the base of Ayers Rock or some souvenir shopping. The choice is yours! We are then transferred to Ayers Rock Airport for our Qantas flight arriving back in Sydney at 4:45pm.*
