Day 1 – Sunday 29th October 2023

Departing Sydney this morning, our journey takes us north with a morning tea stop along the way. Lunch today will be around Singleton and an afternoon break around Willow Tree. We stop in Breeza to see the Ben Hall Wall. Painted by well‐known artist Bronwyn Bassett the mural depicts the last three years of Ben Hall’s life. Then continuing on we arrive in Gunnedah where we settle in to our motel and enjoy dinner at the onsite restaurant.

Day 2 – Monday 30th October 2023

This morning we farewell Gunnedah and travel north to Narrabri where we pause for morning tea. Continuing along the Newell Highway we arrive in Moree, Australia’s Artesian Spa Capital, ready for some lunch then an informative town tour. Our local guide will join us on the coach and show us around Moree as we learn about the history of this unique town, then we sample some local produce. This afternoon, we check in to our Moree accommodation which offers direct access to its own onsite natural artesian hot thermal pools.

Day 3 – Tuesday 31st October 2023

Today we take a short journey east of Moree to Biniguy where we are treated to a guided tour of Trawalla, the largest and most productive Pecan Nut plantation in the Southern Hemisphere. Trawalla is the landmark Stahmann Farms orchard property set on 700 hectares. Learn about all aspects of the farming from the property’s history, pioneering farming methods and harvesting (access is subject to weather conditions). After lunch, our journey takes us through outback NSW to the unique and historic mining town of Lightning Ridge where we spend the next 2 nights. Our dinner both nights is at the Lightning Ridge Bowling Club, which is directly opposite the motel.

Day 4 – Wednesday 1st November 2023

An amazing day today as we spend a full day exploring the best of Lightning Ridge including a visit to the opal fields, historic Three Mile Flat, Lunatic Hill Open Cut Mine, Simms Hill Opals Fields, Amigo’s Castle, Bevan’s Opal Cactus Garden, the Bottle House, fossick for opals, learn about the famous Black Opal and explore the incredible Chambers of the Black Hand.

Day 5 – Thursday 2nd November 2023

Departing Lightning Ridge we travel through Coonamble to Gilgandra where we learn the history of the Coo-ee March. See the impressive Silo Art in Dunedoo before arriving in Mudgee.

Day 6 –Friday 3rd November 2023

This morning we visit Mudgee Honey Haven where we sample some delicious honey products and purchase local produce from the gift store. Then, enjoy a tour and tasting at Gooree Park, one of the districts most historic and picturesque properties. Gooree Park has an enviable reputation as one of the country’s leading thoroughbred breeding grounds and is home to the largest vineyard in the Mudgee region. Enjoy lunch at Mudgee’s oldest pub, the Lawson Park Hotel which has been trading since the 1860’s. Then return back to Sydney at around 6pm depending on traffic.
