Day 1 – Wednesday 30th April 2025

Departing Sydney this morning, our journey takes us north with a morning tea stop along the way. Lunch today will be around Singleton and an afternoon break around Willow Tree. We stop in Breeza to see the Ben Hall Wall. Painted by well‐known artist Bronwyn Bassett the mural depicts the last three years of Ben Hall’s life. Then, continuing on we arrive in Gunnedah where we settle into our motel and enjoy dinner at the onsite restaurant.

Day 2 – Thursday 1st May 2025

This morning we see some of Gunnedah’s highlights before travelling north to Narrabri where we pause for morning tea. Continuing along the Newell Highway we arrive in Australia’s Artesian Spa Capital, Moree. This afternoon we meet our local tour guide who will take us to an operational Cotton Farm where the cotton is harvested and packed into modules/bales. We then travel to the Cotton Gin to observe the ginning process where raw cotton is cleaned and the seed removed and packaged for export. It’s time now to check in to our Moree accommodation which offers direct access to its own onsite natural artesian hot thermal pools. Dinner is served onsite.

Day 3 – Friday 2nd May 2025

This morning a local guide will join us on the coach and show us around Moree as we learn about the history of this unique town, then we sample some local produce and enjoy some free time in town. After lunch, our journey takes us through outback NSW to the unique and historic mining town of Lightning Ridge where we spend the next 2 nights. Our dinner both nights is at the Lightning Ridge Bowling Club, which is directly opposite the motel.

Day 4 – Saturday 3rd May 2025

An amazing day today as we spend a full day exploring the best of Lightning Ridge including a visit to the opal fields, historic Three Mile Flat, Lunatic Hill Open Cut Mine, Simms Hill Opal Fields, Amigo’s Castle, Bevan’s Opal Cactus Garden, the Bottle House, fossick for opals, learn about the famous Black Opal and explore the incredible Chambers of the Black Hand.

Day 5 – Sunday 4th May 2025

Have a quick look around the Famous Lightning Ridge Sunday Markets before we depart. Travel through Coonamble to Gilgandra where we learn the history of the Coo-ee March. See Dunedoo’s impressive Silo Art before arriving in Mudgee. Dinner tonight is at the motel’s onsite restaurant.

Day 6 –Monday 5th May 2025

This morning we visit Mudgee Honey Haven before enjoying a tour and tasting at Gooree Park, one of the districts most historic and picturesque properties. Gooree has an enviable reputation as one of the country’s leading thoroughbred breeders and is home to the largest vineyard in the Mudgee region. Lunch today is at Mudgee’s oldest pub, the Lawson Park Hotel which has been trading since the 1860’s. We then return back to Sydney at around 6pm depending on traffic.
